MONTEREY PARK (CNS) - Monterey Park police Wednesday were investigating a shooting that damaged a parked car but caused no known injuries.

According to Monterey Park Police Department spokesman Sgt. Rudy Contreras, officers responded to the 1600 block of South Atlantic Boulevard on a report of shots fired around 10:05 p.m. Tuesday.

A parked vehicle in the area was struck by gunfire several times, and bullet casings were found on the street and sidewalk, Contreras said.

Detectives said witnesses reported seeing a dark-colored pickup fleeing the scene northbound on Atlantic Boulevard, but no shooting victims were located.

"The police department does not believe there is a threat to the general public at this time," Contreras said in a statement.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting was urged to contact the Monterey Park Police Department at 626-307-1200.
