LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Authorities took a murder suspect into custody Tuesday following a pursuit and barricade in the south Los Angeles area near Gardena.
The suspect led officers on a vehicle chase at about 10 a.m. to the area of 164th Street and Vermont Avenue, where he got out of the vehicle and ran off, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Police set up a perimeter in the area, and SWAT team personnel were sent to the scene, where the suspect ran into a bar and refused to come out, according to the LAPD and broadcast reports.
LAPD Cmdr. Alfonso Lopez told KNX News there were other people in the bar, and they slowly came outside and multiple people were initially detained until the wanted suspect was apprehended. Lopez identified him to the station as 25-year-old Luis Chavez.
Information was not immediately available on the crime for which he was wanted.
