`Mission: Impossible,' `The Last of Us' Top Critics Super Award Nominees

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - "Mission: Impossible -- Dead Reckoning Part One" scored five nominations Thursday to lead the film nominees for the fourth annual Critics Choice Super Awards, while "The Last of Us" led the way among television programs with seven.

"Mission: Impossible" was nominated for best action movie, along with "Extraction 2," "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny," "John Wick: Chapter 4" and "Sisu."

Tom Cruise was nominated for best actor in an action movie for "Mission," as were Chris Hemsworth for "Extraction 2," Keanu Reeves and Donnie Yen for "John Wick" and Denzel Washington for "The Equalizer 3."

"Mission: Impossible" also landed three nominations for best actress in an action film -- Hayley Atwell, Rebecca Ferguson and Pom Klementieff. Priya Kansara of "Polite Society" and Rina Sawayama of "John Wick" rounded out the category.

The Critics Choice Super Awards honor "the most popular, fan-obsessed genres across both television and movies, including Superhero, Science Fiction/Fantasy, Horror, and Action," according to the Critics Choice Association. The winners will be announced April 4.

"The Last of Us" was among the nominees announced for best superhero series, limited series or made-for-TV movie, competing with "Ahsoka," "American Born Chinese," "The Flash," "Gen V," "Loki," "Superman & Lois" and "The Walking Dead: Dead City."
