SANTA ANA (CNS) - A 28-year-old man pleaded guilty Thursday to having sex with a 15-year-old girl he met through Instagram.
Ruben Garciacarbajal pleaded guilty to a felony count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor. He was scheduled to be sentenced April 19.
When the defendant was first charged in June of 2021, he also faced charges of sending harmful matter to a minor with the intent to seduce, and possession or control of child pornography as well as a sentencing enhancement for inflicting great bodily injury on the victim.
Police said at the time he was arrested that he had impregnated the victim.
The defendant met him through Instagram when she was about 15 years old, and the two had continuous sex until she got pregnant and broke up with him, police said.
Garciacarbajal was also accused of taking photos and videos of the teen during sex acts and exchanging sexually explicit messages via text, according to police.
