SANTA ANA (CNS) - A 49-year-old man was charged Thursday with a home- invasion attack on a Westminster resident and child as well as leading police on a chase.
Antonio Cruz Jr. was charged with a felony count each of attempted murder, burglary, child abuse and endangerment, assault with a firearm, possession of a firearm by a felon and leading police on a chase and two felony counts of robbery. He also faces sentencing enhancements for the personal use of a firearm.
Cruz did not enter a plea in his arraignment in the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana on Thursday. His arraignment was rescheduled for March 26 at the West Justice Center in Westminster.
The defendant was accused of robbing the adult and child on Tuesday, according to the criminal complaint. He was also accused of assaulting the adult and child with a firearm.
Cruz pleaded guilty in October 1998 to a felony count of corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant and a misdemeanor count of child abuse and endangerment.
