SANTA ANA (CNS) - A 34-year-old felon was charged Thursday with shooting at two men in a car in Garden Grove on New Year's Eve.
Juan Manuel Uriarte Jr. was charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and two counts of possession of a gun by a felon and single counts of shooting at a car and a prohibited person owning ammunition. He also faces sentencing enhancements for attempted premeditated murder and shooting a gun.
Uriarte was accused of shooting at the car while on foot, Garden Grove police Sgt. Nick Jensen said.
The shooting happened around Buena Street and Keel Avenue. The victims avoided injury.
When police served a search warrant on Tuesday, they recovered four guns, more than 200 rounds of ammunition and about 19 pounds of methamphetamine, police said.
Uriarte pleaded guilty in November of 2017 to carrying a loaded unregistered gun in public. He was ordered held on $500,000 bail on Thursday and was scheduled for arraignment March 15 in the West Justice Center in Westminster.
