AZUSA (CNS) - At least two people were injured Tuesday in a dog attack in the Azusa area.

Sheriff's deputies and animal control personnel responded to the 5000 block of North Orange Crest after receiving reports about a dog mauling Tuesday around 11:30 a.m., KCAL reported.

One of the victims of the attack was taken to a hospital in serious condition, while a second person was treated for less serious injuries.

It was unclear what breed of dogs were involved, or what led to the attack.

Earlier this month, a pack of pit bulls fatally mauled 35-year-old Dominic Cooper in the backyard of his home in the 900 block of North Thorson Avenue in Compton. Authorities said Cooper was apparently breeding the dogs, all of which were turned over to the county and ultimately euthanized.

"All dogs were euthanized due to evidence linking them to the attack," according to a county Department of Animal Care and Control spokesman. "Given the potential threat posed to the community, this action was deemed necessary."
