DOWNEY (CNS) - A video posted on social media and showing a possible injured dog led police and animal control officials to seize five canines from a Downey property Monday, but no arrests were immediately reported.
According to the Downey Police Department, officers responded to the property in the 8100 block of Firestone Boulevard around 9:30 a.m. Monday along with Southeast Area Animal Control Authority personnel in response to the video depicting "possible animal cruelty with an injured dog."
"During the investigation, seven dogs were located on the property," according to Downey police. "Food and water for the dogs were present, but two dogs appeared to need medical treatment for injuries and a medical issue. No deceased dogs were located."
The nature of the dogs' injuries was not immediately known.
Police said five dogs were removed from the property. SEAACA officials were leading the investigation. There were no reports of any arrests.
