SANTA MONICA (CNS) - Bruce Springsteen, Melissa Etheridge and Shania Twain are among the notables who will take the stage during next week's MusiCares 33rd annual benefit gala honoring rocker Jon Bon Jovi, the Recording Academy announced Friday.
Also set to perform -- in addition to Bon Jovi himself -- are Jason Isbell, Brandy Clark, Damiano David, Goo Goo Dolls, Jelly Roll, Marcus King, The War and Treaty, and Lainey Wilson.
The Feb. 2 event will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, hosted by comedian Jim Gaffigan.
According to the Recording Academy, the performers will "pay tribute to Bon Jovi's legacy and his impact on rock and roll since the 1983 inception of his eponymous band."
Money raised from the gala event supports MusiCares programs and services assisting people in the music industry in times of need, including physical and mental health struggles, addiction recovery, prevention clinics, personal emergencies and disaster relief.
Bon Jovi was announce in October as the 2024 MusiCares Person of the Year, recognizing his contributions to the industry along with his extensive philanthropic work.
"Jon Bon Jovi is a rock and roll trailblazer, influencing countless artists over the years. MusiCares is honored to pay tribute to him as our 2024 Person of the Year. Bon Jovi has also lent his life's work to philanthropic efforts that align with the health and human services mission of MusiCares, forever changing the lives of those in need," Laura Segura, executive director of MusiCares, said in a statement. "The goal of the Person of the Year gala is to raise funds for MusiCares' vital services throughout the year and to celebrate the philanthropy and impact of music legends."
The organization cited Bon Jovi's 2006 establishment of the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation aimed at combating hunger, poverty and homelessness by providing food, housing and job-training programs.
Previous Person of the Year honorees include Berry Gordy, Smokey Robinson, Joni Mitchell, Fleetwood Mac and Dolly Parton.
