POMONA (CNS) - A woman was in custody Thursday on suspicion of being the motorist involved in the hit-and-run death of a pedestrian in Pomona on New Year's Day.
Isabella Ortega, 20, was arrested in connection with the death of 23- year-old Khailyn Garcia Sanchez, who was injured about 1:30 a.m. Monday on Garey Avenue near Center Street, according to the Pomona police Department. Sanchez died at a hospital.
Officers arrested Ortega on Tuesday, and she was being held on $80,000 bail as of Thursday afternoon, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
Ortega, taken into custody at her home in Rancho Cucamonga, in San Bernardino County, was booked on suspicion of hit-and-run causing injury or death, and vehicular manslaughter, according to the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.
