CULVER CITY (CNS) - Police again sought the public's help Wednesday to find three armed robbery suspects who assaulted two victims in Culver City earlier this month, resulting in a scuffle and shots fired.
Officers responded to Culver Boulevard and Watseka Avenue at around 7:40 p.m. on May 14 to a report about shots fired, according to the Culver City Police Department.
Police said a male and female victim were dining at a restaurant's patio when a suspect approached the woman and took her purse from the table before fleeing on foot. The male victim chased after the suspect and caught him, resulting in a scuffle between the two.
According to police, a four-door older model sedan was parked nearby, which two other suspects occupied.
The front passenger witnessed the fight between the male victim and the suspect who took the purse and began firing shots at the victims. The alleged attempted purse thief then entered the vehicle with the other suspect and fled the scene without the bag, police said.
One of the suspects was described as a man approximately 25 years old, 6-feet tall, wearing a black hoodie and dark pants.
There was no description for the other two suspects. The type of handgun used in the incident was not disclosed.
Anyone with information about the robbery was urged to contact Culver City Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Edward Baskaron at 310- 253-6316 or the watch commander at 310-253-6202.
