SHERMAN OAKS (CNS) - A 38-year-old woman suspected of stealing a medical transportation company van in Sherman Oaks with a 93-year-old passenger inside Thursday was arrested following a chase.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Lindsey Gordonellyson took the van after its driver stepped out of it to pick up a passenger in the 15000 block of La Maida Street between Sepulveda Boulevard and Kester Avenue, about one block south of the Ventura (101) Freeway, at approximately 9:05 a.m.
Officers from the LAPD'S Van Nuys Patrol Division responded and attempted to stop the van, initiating a chase through the San Fernando Valley with the passenger door open, according to CBS 2.
Police said during the pursuit, Gordonellyson drove the van in an extremely reckless manner and eventually stopped the vehicle in an alley adjacent to the 7600 block of Tyrone Avenue in Van Nuys, between Van Nuys Boulevard and Hazeltine Avenue, where officers took her into custody.
The passenger was reunited with his family after receiving treatment from Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics.
Gordonellyson was booked on kidnapping charges and her bail was set at $125,000.
