One Killed in Pomona Freeway Crash

POMONA (CNS)- One person died and another was in critical condition Saturday after being trapped  inside their cars following a two-vehicle collision in Pomona.

California Highway Patrol officers responded at 1:51 A.M. to the Garey Avenue off ramp of the westbound Pomona (60) Freeway where they found the drivers of both vehicles trapped. Paramedics with the Los Angeles County Fire Department were contacted and freed both victims from the wreckage.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, CHP Officer Patrick Kimball told City News Service.

The second driver was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

The gender and age of the deceased driver was not immediately known.

A SigAlert was issued for the closure of all lanes of the westbound freeway for several hours while the CHP investigated the collision.
