The owners of the Stonecreek Bistro in the Lake Arrowhead/Big Bear area are asking the public for help recognizing a couple wanted for dining and dashing.
A video shared on social media showed the couple sought for serially dining and dashing as they arrived at the restaurant.
According to the restaurant’s owners, the couple came into the restaurant around 8:20 p.m. on Friday, March 31. The duo ordered shishito peppers, tomato soup, a wedge salad, a pork chop, a short rib, two beers, and creme brûlée. Then they just left without paying.
"It’s been a difficult month not being able to open for business because of a once-in-a-generation storm. It’s made worse by people like this," restaurant officials wrote in a post on Instagram.
KFI’s Steve Gregory spoke with the restaurant’s owner and confirmed the couple also hit a Mexican restaurant the next day. Employees at Papagayos Mexican Restaurant down the road confirm the same couple bailed on a check the next day.
A bartender said the man appeared to be in his early 50's and his girlfriend in her 30's. The bartender says the man bragged about being in the restaurant business and the couple ordered a pitcher of beer, margaritas and appetizers. The man left for a moment and the girlfriend said she was going to check on him. Again, the couple left without paying and never returned.
