Pedestrian Killed in Hit-And-Run in Santa Ana; Suspect Sought

SANTA ANA (CNS) - A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run in Santa Ana, and police today sought the public's help to find the motorist.

The person was injured about 8 p.m. Wednesday in the 2800 block of West First Street, and he died at a hospital, the Santa Ana Police Department reported. Information on his identity was not immediately available.

``Preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian was walking north, crossing First Street when he was struck by a vehicle traveling west on First Street,'' police said in a statement.

``The vehicle involved in this collision fled from the scene before officers arrived,'' police said. ``The vehicle, along with the driver remain outstanding. Additionally, it is unknown if alcohol played a factor in this collision. However, the cause of the collision remains under investigation.''

No description was released of the suspect or vehicle. Anyone with information on the case was urged to call police Investigator L. Bao at 714- 245-8223, or the police Traffic Division at 714-245- 8200.
