Man Found Dead in Apartment Damaged by Fire in East Hollywood Area

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A man was found dead Thursday in an apartment that was damaged by a fire in the East Hollywood area.

Firefighters sent to the four-story building in the 5000 block of West Harold Way about 8:50 a.m. extinguished the flames in the second-floor unit in 24 minutes, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

"In battling the flames, firefighters discovered one adult male deceased within the involved apartment," Humphrey said in a statement. "His site affiliation and circumstances of his death have yet to be determined."

No other injuries were reported.

Information on the identity of the man was not immediately available.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
