LONG BEACH (CNS) - A 33-year-old Long Beach man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in the December death of another Long Beach man, police said Tuesday.

The Long Beach Police Department said detectives from the Special Investigations Division, along with Coordinated Response Team officers, arrested Seth Gomes on Monday in the death of 30-year-old Kevin Magana.

Detectives located Gomes near the 3800 block of Long Beach Boulevard, and he was booked on one count of murder, police said.

He is being held on a $2 million bail as homicide detectives prepare to present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

Police said the incident happened around 5:15 a.m. on Dec. 20, when officers were dispatched to the area of Atlantic Avenue and Del Amo Boulevard to assist the Long Beach Fire Department regarding an injured person.

Upon arrival, officers located Magana off the roadway near the intersection of 49th Street and Del Amo Boulevard. LBFD rendered aid, but Magana was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Magana suffered an injury to the upper body, but the cause of injury was unknown. No motive was known.
