PALMDALE (CNS) - Two women were killed Thursday in a crash involving a red compact SUV and a white pickup truck in Palmdale.
The crash was reported at 2:41 p.m. at 100th Street East and East Avenue R, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A witness reported that one person was on the ground, the CHP said.
Video from the scene showed a white GMC pickup truck having broad- sided a red Hyundai Venue compact SUV and an officer administering a field sobriety test to a man before he was handcuffed and placed in a patrol car.
A news videographer at the scene described the victims as two young women inside the red car.
The crash also downed a utility pole and power lines, so Southern California Edison was contacted, the CHP said.
Avenue R was closed from 100th Street East to 102nd Street East for the investigation, the CHP said.
