INGLEWOOD (CNS) - Country singers Kelsea Ballerini and Tiera Kennedy will headline the Allstate Championship Tailgate concert outside SoFi Stadium prior to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game on Jan. 9, organizers announced Wednesday.
The concert will be held during a tailgate party scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will also feature interactive exhibits, games, food and drink and performances by marching bands from the participating teams.
The marching bands from each school will also perform during halftime of the game, organizers said.
Prior to kickoff, members of the Chamber Choir from the Academy of Music and Performing Arts at Alexander Hamilton High School in Los Angeles will perform "America the Beautiful." Grammy-winning quintet Pentatonix will then perform the national anthem, according to the CFP.
The national anthem and "America the Beautiful" will both be performed in American Sign Language by 10-year-old Seven Chandler, who attends the Marlton School for the deaf in the Los Angeles Unified School District.
The pre-game ceremonies will also include an on-field recognition of Teachers of the Year from every U.S. state and territory.
Also during the game, a recognition ceremony will be held for Army Staff Sgt. Clint Romesha, who received the Medal of Honor for his actions during the Battle of Combat Outpost Keating in Afghanistan on Oct. 3, 2009. According to organizers, Romesha and his troop fought off 300 Taliban insurgents, and Romesha continued fighting despite being wounded by shrapnel, rallying troops to launch a counterattack that allowed them to secure the outpost.
The game is scheduled to kick off at 4:45 p.m. Jan. 9.
