FULLERTON (CNS) - A 26-year-old woman who accidentally ran over her friend in Placentia while drunk pleaded guilty Thursday to child abuse and a DUI and was immediately sentenced to five days in jail.

Sheri Olga Sedillo pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of child abuse and endangerment and a felony count of DUI causing injury. As part of her plea bargain, a felony count of assault with a deadly weapon and driving under influence with a blood-alcohol level exceeding the legal limit of .08% or more causing injury were dismissed.

Sedillo and the victim are friends and had been drinking in a park Feb. 26, Placentia Police Department Sgt. Bryce Angel said.

They drove to a gas station, and when the girl's mother got out of her vehicle the defendant backed over her, Angel said.

Sedillo parked in a lot a few hundred feet away and was found passed out behind the wheel with a 1-year-old girl in her car seat unharmed, Angel said.

The victim who was run over sustained bruises and scrapes, Angel said.

Sedillo was placed on two years of formal probation and was ordered to participate in a child abuser's treatment program and an 18-month multiple DUI program, according to court records.
