WHITTIER (CNS) - A young man who was fatally shot on a bike path following a house party in Whittier was identified Monday, and the investigation was continuing into the death.

Officers were dispatched about 1 a.m. Sunday to calls of "shots heard" in the area of the 10500 block of El Rancho Drive, the Whittier Police Department reported.

"Upon arrival, officers located a party which was dispersing from a house adjacent to the Greenway Trail, and also located one male adult victim deceased on the trail," police said in a statement.

"Preliminary, it appears an argument between individuals at the party made its way onto the trail, when shots were fired," police said.

The man was identified as 19-year-old Adrian Ochoa, the Los Angeles County coroner's office reported. His city of residence was not known. No suspect information was available.

Whittier police urged anyone with information about the homicide to call their tip line at 562-567-9299.
