SYLMAR (CNS) - A brush fire blackened about 25 acres in Sylmar Thursday, but no one was injured.

Firefighters were called about 1:55 p.m. to the area of 15278 W. Lakeside St., near Carey Ranch Park, on reports of a roughly quarter-acre brush fire burning uphill and potentially threatening a home, according to Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Los Angeles County Fire Department crews were called to assist roughly 100 LAFD firefighters in defending structures in the area as the brusher grew to about seven acres.

Prange said crews managed to stop forward progress of the fire at about 25 acres by 3:35 p.m. No structures were damaged in the fire and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
