LOS ANGELES (CNS) - A man was killed when one or more suspects fired dozens of shots into his vehicle in a drive-by shooting in the Vermont Knolls area of Los Angeles, police said Wednesday.
The shooting was reported around 10:10 p.m. Tuesday at West 83rd and Figueroa streets, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The victim, a man in his 40s, died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office. His name was withheld, pending notification of his relatives.
According to police and reports from the scene, the man was sitting in his vehicle with his girlfriend when one or more suspects pulled up next to them and dozens of shots were fired, fatally wounding him but not injuring the woman.
A motive for the crime was not known. Anyone with information on the case was urged to call 877-LAPD-247.
