Tinder Urges Users to Wait on Hooking-up

Dating apps are taking a stance to help fight off the novel coronavirus. Certain apps like Tinder and Hinge have release statements to their users urging people not to take their blossoming love off of the app.

“Social distancing doesn’t have to mean disconnecting,” Tinder writes. Dating apps are understanding that during the time of self isolation, there are a lot of singles out there with a lot more free time. Swiping is surging which means a lot more people are virtually connecting. Tinder says that people in heavily COVID-19 impacted areas are actually talking more on the apps.

“In the last week, we’ve seen longer chats from our members in areas most impacted by COVID-19- and we know there’s a lot to say to each other as we all do our best to stay healthy and prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

We hope to be a place for connection during this challenging time, but it’s important to stress that now is not the time to meet IRL with your match. Please keep things here➡️📱 for now and be sure to stay informed with the most up-to-date recommendations from the World Health Organization below.”
