Brinks Truck Spills Money All Over Highway

Talk about a dream come true! Anyone who's ever been near a Brinks armored truck has had the same thought - what if that door opened up and money started flying out? Well.....that is exactly what happened when some Indianapolis motorists got to live out that daydream on Wednesday.

The Brinks truck was driving on I-70 through Indy when the back doors opened up, spilling hundreds of thousands of dollars onto the highway.  Police say drivers were stopping on the side of the road and people were jumping over fences from a nearby neighborhood to grab the cash.

“Bags of money were falling out of the back onto the interstate," ISP Corporal Brock McCooe said.

“Sort of something out of a movie scene, where you have bills, loose bills flying all over the interstate, vehicles stopping, people getting out of their cars.”

State Police say anyone who grabbed the money needs to return it or face possible theft charges. They say they're looking for several culprits already.

“If you’re willing to, in good conscience, turn it back in, there’s amnesty, there’s no real questions asked if you’re willing to give it back," said McCooe.
