We have become so attached to our phones that we can't be separated from them for too long or we get anxious. It's gotten to the point where if you don't look at your phone for an hour you're a role model for self-control.
One of the most common places where teens and adults alike use their phones, is when they are laying in bed. That one final scroll through Instagram or email before you drift off to sleep has become a part of our daily routine.
As we drift off to sleep, as long as our phone is charging and the alarm is set we aren't hugely concerned with where it is. This has been causing some issues in a New Hampshire town, so much so that their fire department issued a warning over Facebook about sleeping with your phone plugged in.
The heat generated from the charger and the phone cannot appropriately distribute if it is smothered by pillows and blankets on your bed. This results in the charger becoming so hot that it can catch fire.
So before you drift to sleep make sure that your phone and charger are out in the open so you won't be any danger.
Research has revealed that 53% of children/teens charge their phone or tablet either on their bed or under their pillow. This is can be extremely dangerous. The heat generated cannot dissipate and the charger will become hotter and hotter. The likely result is that the pillow/bed will catch fire. This places the child/teen as well as everyone else in the home in great danger. Please check where you & your family charge your mobile devices.
