Giant squid sightings are very rare but they can also be very dangerous.
This couple was paddle boarding off of the coast of Melkbosstrand near Cape Town, South Africa when they came across an injured giant squid.
The man noticed the injured squid and tied a rope to it and pulled it closer to shore. The smart thing to do is to get very far away to avoid getting your skull crushed by the tentacles but these guys took their chances.
Luckily the squid wasn't aggressive but he did wrap his tentacles around the board to take a break. This caused the paddle boarder to fall into the water but he quickly got back on his board and avoided an injury.
The video cuts off but I think we can assume everyone came out alive since it was posted to Instagram. But nowadays you never know...
