Elderly folks living near Duarte had their big Hollywood moment

Silver-haired folks from a senior living facility, Royal Oaks Manor, near Duarte can be seen on the silver screen. 

Marty Burkard and her friends from the retirement community were extras in The Hero starring Sam Elliot. The movie follows an old country-western star into modern-day times and shows how he is still trying to escape the type-cast given to him 40 years ago. 

Jo Kwon talked with the silver-haired extras about their time on set and they seem to have had a blast. Jane Imamura said they were given cameras in one scene one scene they were given cameras and they were told to "click away". Another extra, John Fee, was happy he could check acting of of his bucket list. 

The Royal Oak Manor residents were bused to special screening of the film at the Arclight Theater in Hollywood on Sunday.
