Mystie Salbert started working in radio in 2007 and has since worn a variety of disguises. She began as a call screener for KFI and KTLK, producer of Millionaire Matchmaker Patti Stanger’s P.S. I Love You on XM Satellite Radio, spent a summer operating the multi-line switchboard for Clear Channel Radio while producing various KFI shows, and was later promoted to Associate Producer of the John and Ken Show and then Executive Producer of the Tim Conway, Jr Show. If you listen closely to the Conway Show you can still hear the remnants of her highly intelligent famous sayings, “Oh yeah!” and “I got it!”
She also spent several years producing Deborah Kobylt’s podcast Deborah Kobylt LIVE, as well as working at Angels Radio KLAA running the control board. Mystie is currently the producer of Home with Dean Sharp, the call screener for Handel on the Law and a part-time KFI news editor where she regularly uses her favorite tongue twister, “I edited it.”
Mystie graduated with a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism with a collateral field in Meteorology from California State University, Northridge. She won several awards before coming to KFI that actually have her name engraved on them: Edward R. Murrow Award for Best Hard News Feature, Mark Twain Award for Best Investigative Reporting, and Society of Professional Journalists’ Mark of Excellence Regional Award in the TV Feature category.
Mystie also enjoys volunteering and spent one summer as a volunteer cast member in the Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach. In 2015 she obtained a new skill of being quiet on stage for 90 seconds while standing still and staring at the audience. Believe it or not…there were even postcards sold at the gift store with her on them disguised as a Rococo Figurine.
