A major development in Garcetti getting shipped out to India! ... The Senate Foreign Relations Committee FINALLY Approves Garcetti's nomination for India Ambassadorship.

This morning, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee finally approved Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti's nomination for him to serve as U.S. Ambassador to India... and it only took a little over six months. Now the next step in the process is for the nomination to be presented to the Senate - they will vote at a later date to formally confirm Garcetti.

Garcetti was nominated to serve as U.S. Ambassador of India by President Joe Biden in July 2021. Garcetti served as national co-chair of Joe Biden's presidential campaign.

Back on December 14th, 2021, Garcetti sat before the committee. He was questioned about the misconduct that took place in his office and allegations that Garcetti knew about sexual harassment allegations from employees about senior advisor Rick Jacobs. Garcetti defended himself:

“I want to say unequivocally that I never witnessed, nor was it brought to my attention, that behavior that has been alleged,”

He would continue by saying,

“And I also want to assure you that if it had been, I would have immediately taken action to stop that.”

Garcetti first traveled to India as a teenager with his parents and then back in 1990 as guest to Ambassador William Clark Jr. He has said that those trips inspired him to study Hindi and Urdu.

Only time will tell as to what happens with Garcetti's nomination. Fingers crossed.
