The Los Angeles City Council has voted in favor to require proof of full vaccination by November 4th. The City Council voted 11-2 in favor to this ordinance.
This is one of the nation's strictest vaccine mandates. This mandate will now require everyone entering bars, restaurants, nail salons, gyms, and sporting events to show proof of vaccination.
The City Council was supposed to vote on this mandate last week, but it was postponed.
How this new mandate will be enforced is a question that is being asked by many.
Mayor Eric Garcetti is expected to sign this ordinance into law. Garcetti has expressed his support for this mandate. He said:
"I don’t want to bury another city employee, police officer, firefighter.”
This vaccine mandate includes people age 12 and up.
For those with religious or medical exemptions, a negative COVID test within 72 hours of entry will be required.
