An ex-staffer is accusing the Kamala Harris campaign of making crucial mistakes and mistreating staff in a searing resignation letter acquired by the New York Times.

In the letter, former state operations manager Kelly Mehlenbacher claims "I have never seen an organization treat its staff so poorly", including moving staffers from Washington DC to Baltimore only to "lay them off without notice".

The letter says the Harris campaign has "no real plan to win" even though Mehlenbacher still believes that "Senator Harris is the strongest candidate".

Representative Marcia Fudge, former chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus, endorsed Harris said in an interview that the senator was an exceptional candidate who had been poorly served by some top staff. However she acknowledged that Harris must take responsibility for her problems — “it’s her campaign” — and that the structure she created has not served her well.

“I have told her there needs to be a change," said Fudge. “The weakness is at the top. And it’s clearly Juan. He needs to take responsibility — that’s where the buck stops.”
