Gov. Gavin Newsom High-Speed Rail Plans

He's only been in office for a couple of months, but Gavin Newsom is already starting a mess being California's Governor. We warned everyone, but he was still elected and now we're forced with this for the next four years.

In his first State of the State speech, Newsom said what many Californians have already thought The state's high-speed rail project, is completely out of control and needs trimming. He also added that project would run out of money with nothing to show for it. Well, of course that's going to happen Newsom. The price went up from $45 billion to $77 billion. That's a 32 BILLION dollar difference. It really never makes sense to use why people praise the Governor when it's just common sense.

So to cut this money issue, Newsom is focusing on finishing the line through Merced to Bakersfield and hopes it could open by 2027. Wait what, what's the point in that? Who is going from Merced to Bakersfield. How is this not a waste of even more money? He's not even attempting to link the high-speed rail to the Bay Area.

Of course, rightfully so, he's angered many Valley leaders over this decision. This plan has been construed for over two-decades and these leaders were using the high-speed rail as a way to get some economic development for them.

“That’s one of the things we’ve been using as a carrot for a long time,” said Lee Ann Eager, head of the Fresno County Economic Development Corporation. “Not just for Silicon Valley firms to expand here, but for people around the world to come here because they can get to Silicon Valley quickly.”

Since the announcement, Gov. Newsom has not set out another clear plan on what he intends to do.
