Newport Beach Surgeon and Friend Accused of Drugging, Raping Multiple Women

A Newport Beach orthopedic surgeon and reality show guest star is accused of drugging and sexually assaulting women with the help of his lady friend.

The Orange County District Attorney's office reported Tuesday that there could be up to 1,000 potential victims.

Grant Robicheaux, 38, and Cerissa Riley, 31, face charges in two incidents including rape by use of drugs, oral copulation by anesthesia or controlled substance, assault with intent to commit sexual offense and possession of a controlled substance for sale.

Orange County Deputy District Attorney Michael Carroll alleges the first of several incidents happened in April 2016 after Robicheaux and Riley met a woman at a restaurant and then took her to Robicheaux's Newport Beach apartment once she was intoxicated. The duo gave the 32-year-old victim multiple drugs and then raped her. The victim tested positive for multiple controlled substances the next day and notified Newport Beach police.

The next case took place back at Robicheaux's apartment after the pair drank alcohol with a woman at a Newport Beach bar until she was unconscious then took her home where they sexually assaulted her. Neighbors called the police after the victim woke up and screamed for help.

Robicheaux's apartment was searched back in January where officers found large quantities of illegal drugs, two illegal and unregistered assault rifles, four other weapons, and several large capacity magazines.

Robicheaux and Riley were arrested September 12 at the surgeon's home.

Anyone with information on the case, including potential victims, are being asked to contact Supervising Investigator Eric Wiseman at 714-347-8794.
