The Daily Caller recently published a series of photos taken during the Obama administration in 2014 displaying the conditions of detention centers filled with illegal immigrants. These photos are quite similar to the ones taken during the Trump-era but most people have never seen them.
There is huge outrage over President Trumps decision to separate families at the border but former President Obama also used these detention centers.
Current U.S. immigration laws, when enforced, have the consequence of temporarily separating adults who arrive with children into separate detention facilities in order to prosecute the adults.
The policy of prosecuting immigrants for crossing the border illegally has been in place for many years, the Bush administration prosecuted half a million illegal immigrants and so did Obama's administration. Families were also separated back then according to laws and policies put in place in the 90s.
The pictures were taken during a media tour of detention facilities in Brownsville, Texas, and Nogales, Arizona.
