(Therese Gunn - Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office)
A former music teacher in Gwinnett County, Georgia who pleaded guilty to having a sexual relationship with a student was sentenced last week to 90 days in jail and 10 years probation.
Therese Gunn apologized to the judge a number of times, insisting that the relationship she had with the 17-year-old student was a mistake.
"I can't believe this. I messed up the trust of everybody."
Gunn then said the student was the one to blame. She said she was going through a divorce, that she was lonely, and that student lured her in:
"(He) coerced me and I would say that it was like a car salesman."
The student says he's devastated about what happened, and the whole thing has made his life "hell."
Gunn was arrested back in May 2015. She and the student did their business both at the school and at a local park.
Prosecutors wanted 2 years for Gunn, and brought up that in the last couple of years several Gwinnett teachers have been busted for relationships with students.
Judge Warren Davis instead decided for 90 days in jail with 10 years on probation:
"Let's face it. You must have been in a real horrible place to make such a bad decision, but clearly you weren't coerced."
