An Early Christmas Present from SoCalGas

I had a client shopping for a new gas dryer this week. She already knew she should be looking for a high efficiency Energy Star rated appliance. What she didn’t know was that because of a new end of year rebate roll out from SoCalGas her energy efficiency rebate was going to increase by 50%.

SoCalGas, in cooperation with the California Public Utilities Commission, is looking for ways to help everyone save gas and reduce their monthly expenses. So it is increasing rebates by an additional 50% on all energy efficient appliances listed in its rebate program through December 31. This means if you’re out there in the market for a new gas appliance you might get an additional 50% cash back.

“We know that many consumers are looking to replace a dryer, a furnace or water heater, or simply want to save money with a new energy saving appliance, and SoCalGas is delivering on our commitment to our customers by helping them further improve energy efficiency and reduce their natural gas bills.”

You can check for rebates by going to socalgas.com/rebates where you’ll find rebates like $600 on select water heaters and furnaces, $500 on select fireplaces, $50 on select smart thermostats and Energy Star natural gas dryers, and more.

I know some folks still shy away from high efficiency appliances because the often the initial price tag is higher. But what you should know is that high efficiency is all about saving hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars in the long run. That’s exactly why the rebate program exists. To incentivize the wisest choice.

Those good choices reverberate farther than just your own budget too. The more energy efficient everyone becomes, the more the costs of everyone’s energy stays under control, not to mention the good is does our environment through reduced emissions.

The moral of the story is that there’s $$ to be saved from now until the end of the year. So go to socalgas.com/rebates and check that list!
