Video evidence showing free agent pitcher Julio Urías taking a swing at his wife has emerged one year after his arrest.

The California Highway Patrol footage, which obtained by the Los Angeles Times, shows the couple outside BMO Stadium in Los Angeles after an LAFC soccer game on September 3, 2023. Urías, 28, who last pitched for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2023, is seen charging at his wife shoving her into a fence before the two were being separated by others, at which point he attempted to swing at her.

Urías was charged with five misdemeanors -- one count of spousal battery, one count of false imprisonment, one count of assault and two counts of domestic battery involving a dating relationship -- in relation in April and pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor domestic battery charge in May. The pitcher was placed on 36 months probation and ordered to complete 30 days of community labor and a 52-week domestic violence counseling course, while the other four charges against him were dismissed.

Urías was placed on administrative leave by Major League Baseball three days after the incident took place and remains a free agent after his Dodgers contract expired this past offseason. The league still hasn't announced a potential suspension for the pitcher in relation to the incident.

“MLB is continuing to gather all the relevant evidence in our investigation,” a league spokesman told the Los Angeles Times on Wednesday.

Urías had previously been arrested on suspicion of domestic battery in 2019, but didn't face criminal charges at the time. The Mexican native previously served a 20-game suspension in adherence with Major League Baseball's domestic violence policy and no player has ever previously been suspended twice for domestic violence offenses.

Urías was one of baseball's best starters prior to the 2023 season, which included a National League-best 2.16 ERA and 20 wins in 2021, as well as finishing third in Cy Young voting during the 2022 season. The 28-year-old has, however, struggled during a free agency season in 2023, recording a 4.60 ERA and allowing a career-high 24 home runs in 117.1 innings pitched.
