That's a literal statement, because they don't just originate from Mexico, but from all around Latin America — like, from El Salvador, Guatemala, Cuba, and Colombia, just to name a few places. The Tamale also populates from other countries such as China that includes “Chinese sticky rice packets wrapped in lotus or bamboo leaves, instead of the corn husks or banana leaves one might usually expect.”
