California wildlife officials say a woman's dog was gravely injured Monday while fighting off a mountain lion that attacked its owner.
Erin Wilson was attacked while walking along the Trinity River in far Northern California on Monday afternoon. Wilson revealed to The Sacramento Bee she called for help when the cat was growling, looking as if it would pounce on her.
Wilson yelled "Eva!" --her dog running and "hit that cat really hard.” “They fought for a couple seconds, and then I heard her start crying,” Wilson said. “That’s when the cat latched on to her skull.”
Wilson calls her Belgian Malinois dog her lifesaver.
Eva is in stable condition and is still at the emergency vet, according to The Sacramento Bee.
