Kris Ankarlo is back to go through the propositions on this year's ballot. On Friday he broke down both sides of Prop 21, which is the Local Rent Control Initiative. A Yes vote would "allow local governments to enact rent control on housing that was first occupied over 15 years ago, with an exception for landlords who own no more than two homes with distinct titles or subdivided interests."
A No vote means "continuing to prohibit rent control on housing that was first occupied after February 1, 1995, and housing units with distinct titles, such as single-family homes."
Listen to Kris explain more below:
Today he helped us understand Prop 22, which is the App-Based Drivers as Contractors and Labor Policies Initiative.
A Yes vote would "define app-based transportation (rideshare) and delivery drivers as independent contractors and adopt labor and wage policies specific to app-based drivers and companies."
A No vote would oppose that, and means that California Assembly Bill 5 could be used to determine if app-based drivers are independent contractors or employees.
