" target="_self">KFI News' Kris Ankarlo joined us again today with another look at the propositions on this year's ballot. Today we focused on Prop 19, which is the "Property Tax Transfers, Exemptions, and Revenue for Wildfire Agencies and Counties Amendment."
That's a mouthful, right?
According to Ballotpedia, here's what a YES vote means:
Eligible homeowners can transfer their tax assessments anywhere within the state and allow tax assessments to be transferred to a more expensive home with an upward adjustment.
It would increase the number of times that persons over 55-years-old or with severe disabilities can transfer their tax assessments from one to three.
It would require that inherited homes that are not used as principal residences, such as second homes or rentals, be reassessed at market value when transferred; and
It would allocate additional revenue or net savings resulting from the ballot measure to wildfire agencies and counties.
A NO vote would mean that none that stuff would happen. There's a lot to dissect with this one. Check out our conversation with Kris Ankarlo, and learn more about each of the propositions on his "Propositioned" Podcast!
