Awwww! Look at this little guy!
His name is Nic and he is an albino hedgehog.
KTLA reports that Nic was found in the backyard of a home in Riverside.
The County Department of Animal Services held onto the hedgehog because hedgehogs are illegal in the state of California.
Wait, why are they illegal?
A Change.org petition states that, "Hedgehogs are considered illegal by default in the state of CA simply because they are not on the list of legal animals in this state".
So, essentially, they are illegal because they are not explicitly stated as being legal.
Well, the good news is that Nic found a home with MeoowzResQ which is an animal rescue organization that has the correct permit to work with exotic animals.
