Netflix has launched its cloud-based game streaming beta in the US. The feature was initially introduced in Canada and the UK in August and allows users to stream games to their TV or computer.
However, it is worth noting that the beta is currently limited to a small number of users. Oxenfree from Netflix's Night School Studio and Molehew's Mining Adventure are the only games available for streaming.
You'll need to download Netflix's special controller app for your iPhone or Android device if you're using a TV to play. Additionally, the streamed games are only compatible with select devices, including Amazon Fire TV, Chromecast with Google TV, and Roku devices. On the web, games can be played using a mouse and keyboard.
Netflix has been gradually expanding its games library to offer more benefits to its subscribers. While most of its games are available on mobile devices, the company has expressed interest in expanding beyond iOS and Android.
According to a recent report by The Wall Street Journal, the company plans to create games based on its successful franchises, including Squid Game, Wednesday, Extraction, and Black Mirror. It has also had talks with Take-Two about licensing a game from the Grand Theft Auto series.
