US customs agents seized a box of giraffe feces from a passenger who attempted to bring it into the country to make a necklace.
The woman, who had previously made other feces necklaces, declared the box during an inspection at the Minneapolis-Saint Paul Airport.
A US Customs and Border Protection field director emphasized the danger of bringing fecal matter into the US.
"If this person had entered the U.S. and had not declared these items, there is high possibility a person could have contracted a disease from this jewelry and developed serious health issues."
Individuals are allowed to bring feces from ruminant animals into the U.S. with a Veterinary Services Permit. The woman was not penalized because she declared it and surrendered it to customs officials.
