The widely known dictionary publisher Merriam-Webster recently added 690 new terms to its list, such as "rizz," "thirst trap," and "dad joke."
The term "rizz" is used as a noun to describe a person's romantic appeal or charm or as a verb used to charm or seduce someone.
The term "thirst trap," which describes a provocative image or social media post meant to get a response from someone, is another addition to the dictionary.
And we all know what a "dad joke" is. (insert dad joke here)
Along with these new slang expressions, Merriam-Webster has expanded its vocabulary to include more formal terminology like "deep state," "autogenic training," and "second gentleman." These new additions show the wide range of subjects and interests that are influencing today's language.
