El Chapo's Wife Is Getting Out From SoCal Halfway House

Emma Coronel, the wife of Mexican drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, is set to leave a halfway house located in Long Beach.

Emma Coronel Aispuro was sentenced to three years in federal prison in November 2021 after pleading guilty to money laundering and conspiracy to distribute cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, and marijuana for importation into the United States. She was also sentenced to nearly $1.5 million in fines.

Coronel Aispuro also assisted her husband in 2015 in planning an escape through a tunnel beneath a prison in Mexico by smuggled a GPS watch to him disguised as a food item.
