A small cargo jet's co-pilot died on Friday in North Carolina when he fell from the plane, just before it made an emergency landing...
The body of the co-pilot, 23-year-old Charles Hew Crooks, was reportedly discovered in a backyard in the town of Fuquay-Varina, which is located about 48 kilometers (30 miles) south of the Raleigh-Durham International Airport.
He was not wearing a parachute when he fell.
After reporting that one of the wheels had detached from the landing gear, the pilot, whose identity has not been disclosed, made an emergency landing at the airport on Friday afternoon. He received medical treatment for minor injuries and then was released.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating with the assistance of local, state, and federal authorities.
