As if the deluge of phony COVID-19 cures wasn't bad enough, now scammers are capitalizing on the coronavirus pandemic by selling bogus antibody tests.
That's according to the FBI, which says crooks who sell the fake tests are really fishing for people's personal information so they can rip them off... Shocker!
Officials say scammers contact victims by phone and offer to sign them up for a coronavirus antibody test, but first they take their social security number and credit card information. By the time the victim realizes the test isn't going to happen, he or she has already been robbed!
Spotting an antibody test scammer is easy, according to the FBI, because such tests are never offered to random people... A doctor has to file a request on a patient's behalf, so keep that in mind if something sounds too good to be true.
