When Gavin Clarkson and his fiance applied for a marriage license in Washington D.C., it was a shock to them when they were denied for having international driver's licenses.
Which would be fine.....if it wasn't for the fact that the couple is from New Mexico.
Clarkson said:
"You know you are from flyover country when you are applying for a marriage license, give them your New Mexico driver's license, and they come back and say: 'My supervisor says we cannot accept international driver's licenses. Do you have a New Mexico passport?"
The clerk even commented on Clarkson having great English. Marina, Clarkson's fiance, was bewildered at the comment.
The clerk went back to the supervisor for a second time and they eventually realized that New Mexico was in fact a part of the United States.
